Established in 1873, Paignton Rugby Club is a community focused organisation at the heart of Torbay, Devon.

Known as “The Cherries”, we live the values of Rugby, (Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline & Sportsmanship) we work closely with our community for the enrichment and enjoyment of all.

Consisting of Senior, Ladies & Youth Sections, we have over 500 members and host matches nearly every weekend in our home ground, Queens Park from September to May.

We are an RFU and Clubmark accredited club.

NICK MOLONEY

CHAIRMAN
Nick joined Paignton RFC from Torquay Athletic as a player in 1999.  He was elected Chairman of Paignton RFC and coached Junior Rugby from 2004-2013, taking a short break as Vice Chairman in 2014 before returning as Chairman in 2015 to the present day.

Outside of Rugby, he is the Streetworks Co- ordinator for the Local Authority of whom he has with for over 25 years.

DARREN LAW

VICE CHAIRMAN
Darren returns to the Board as Vice Chair for a second time after having a break following former roles as Youth Chair and Communications Director.

Outside of rugby, Darren is MD of an award winning architectural practice and brings this expertise to the club, previously with the bar refurbishment, Sands Road Changing Room refurb and other projects yet to come to fruition.

Darren can be seen on the touchline most Saturdays supporting his son who has made the successful transition from Youth to Senior rugby.

RICHARD HUNT

DIRECTOR OF RUGBY
Richard rejoined Paignton Rugby Club in 2018, having had a spell as a player and mini-section coach from 2012-16. He took on the role of Director of Rugby in the Summer of 2019.

Away from the rugby club Richard is a proud Husband, Father and Grandfather who works on his family's farm. He has been a part of the development of his family's campsite and cider business, Hunt's Cider.

DAVID SIDDALL

CLUB TREASURER
David first joined the club in 1976 as a youth player playing through all the age groups and into colts and seniors going on to represent the 1st XV and captaining the 2nd XV.

He has also coached a team from Under 8s through to colts and am very proud that 8 players have gone on to represent Paignton at 1st XV level. Around the mid 1990s, he was asked to join the committee and held the post of secretary for 3 years. Having finished his playing career and working closer to home, he was asked to join the board of directors as Vice Chairman.

Outside of the club, David has worked for Booker Wholesale for over 35 years and is currently Area Manager responsible for a multi million pound turnover throughout the South West.

GRAHAM NELSON-SMITH

HONORARY SECRETARY
Graham joined the club in 1997 with his son Sam.

In his early years Graham was heavily involved with the Club’s Junior Section, which included managing and helping train Under 14s, 15s and 16s teams over a number of seasons. In 2003, Graham was approached by the then Committee to become Club Secretary, which he held for several years and in 2013 was awarded the Kiwi Tie for services to the Club.

In addition to being a member of QPSC and Club Secretary, Graham continues to be the Ticket Secretary for International and Six Nations Games and the Club’s Second Team Devon Merit table liaison officer.

JEZ BACK

DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS
Jez joined the club initially as a keen parent wanting his children to do well at Rugby. As a long term retired player, the passion came back and he soon found himself coaching one of the Youth Section teams.

After a few years, he has brought his love of Rugby & Technology together when he was invited to join the board as Director of Communications & Technology in 2018.  His role has been expanded to include all sponsorship and marketing.

Outside of the club, he is the founder and Managing Director of Erebus Digital, a TV Host & Producer and regular public speaker at Technology events.

GEOFF & SHARON DAVIES

CO-DIRECTORS OF HOSPITALITY
Geoff & Sharon joined Paignton Rugby Club back in 2005 when their son started to show a keen interest in the sport. They both helped to manage his youth team up until 2014.

As a close knit team, they have both worked in the hospitality industry for all of their working lives, Geoff being the youngest ever landlord in Somerset at the time and Sharon also holding her personal license. They have owned several hotels, bars, clubs, cafes, and amusement arcades and in 2014 were approached by the board with an offer of running hospitality within the club.

Outside of the club, they now own a successful asbestos removal company.
