Paignton Rugby Youth Chairman - Stewart Colley

Youth Chairman – Stewart Colley

Stewart joined Paignton Rugby in 2011 at the behest of his 7 year old son pestering Stewart to take him to rugby! He soon started to become more involved with the team and assisting with the training sessions, eventually taking over the coaching role and helping with the team management, also gaining several coaching and refereeing qualifications along the way.
He was approached by the board 2 years ago to take the role of Youth Chair. While still “learning the ropes”, it has become clear the depth of involvement of the role within the club and the wider community, and the impact the role can have.
In his other life, Stewart has been in the construction industry for over 30 years, starting life as a plasterer, then climbing the management ladder, where I have been a Project Manager for the last 10+ years. My current role takes me around the country managing multi-million pound refits.

Paignton Rugby Commercial Director - Bev Law

Commercial Director – Bev Law

Bev became involved with the club in 2014 after being the long suffering wife of fellow Director Darren (if you can’t beat them join them!) At that time the Club was in need of financial reconstruction after chasing a higher league status. Bev with over 26 years’ experience in the banking industry was able to reach out to local and national companies to support the Club with improved sponsorship and advertising opportunities improving funding streams into the Club. As well as improving revenue, Bev was able to streamline a number of processes to enable more efficient running and make savings in the everyday running of the organisation turning a number of annual operating losses into profits. These profits are then able to be re-invested back into the club making much better member experiences at Queens Park.
Outside the club, following leaving the banking industry, Bev has been able to enjoy her passion for sport by becoming a Teaching Assistant in the sports department at a local school. A role which she thoroughly enjoys and has huge rewards.

Co-Director of Hospitality - Geoff Davies
Sharon Davies Left Profile

Hospitality Co-Directors – Geoff & Sharon Davies

Geoff & Sharon joined Paignton Rugby Club back in 2005 when their son started to show a keen interest in the sport. They both helped to manage his youth team up until 2014.
As a close knit team, they have both worked in the hospitality industry for all of their working lives, Geoff being the youngest ever landlord in Somerset at the time and Sharon also holding her personal license. They have owned several hotels, bars, clubs, cafes, and amusement arcades and in 2014 were approached by the board with an offer of running the catering department within the club.
The newly refurbished clubhouse and kitchen offered a great opportunity to expand and bring a wider variety of entertainment to the club. They were able to offer things such as curry and quiz nights, guest speaker nights, presentation evenings and catering facilities for private events within the club such as birthday celebrations, anniversaries, baby showers, wakes etc. All providing a great deal of extra revenue for the club.
After proving themselves successful in this area, they were asked to join the board of directors and subsequently took over the running of the bar as well, which in the last year has shown an increase in turnover and profitability.
Outside of the club, they now own a successful asbestos removal company.
